Peninsula School's volunteer parent & GUARDIAN association

Our Mission

The People of Peninsula, also known as POP, is an organization of parents/caregivers whose mission is to build a sense of connection and community for families at Peninsula School and to help raise additional resources for the school through events and fundraising. We strive to contribute to each event by mirroring students' classroom daily “work jobs” through community volunteering, thus modeling the values of Peninsula School. We aim to know, support, involve, and value all Peninsula School families.

Who We Are

POP is Peninsula School’s version of a parent/caregiver and teacher association made up of ten council members and any interested community members. If you have a child enrolled at Peninsula School or are a staff member, you are automatically a member of POP and are invited with open arms to all POP meetings and activities. This group values authentic connections, community-building, and teamwork. We work closely with the Head of School, Development and others in Administration.

Main Goals

  • Welcome and support new families entering the Peninsula Community

  • Organize and lead Peninsula’s three annual caregiver-led core community and fundraising events (Craft Fair, Community Celebration, and Spring Fair)

  • Connect Peninsula families across all grade levels through community events and volunteerism

  • Build and strengthen community via POP clubs, coffee meetups, new family social events, and other community Events

  • Support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives

  • Design and implement educational opportunities for our caregivers to learn and grow as families and individuals

  • Support communication between school and families

When & Where

POP holds a monthly meeting on second Mondays via Zoom. Any interested Peninsula School community members are invited to join in to share ideas, seek out ways to get involved at school, help brainstorm and problem solve ideas related to ongoing POP business, as well as seek answers and share concerns about issues at school. Look for an invitation in the weekly school Hot News and reminders through your monthly Class Rep email.

Get More Involved

For those interested in becoming more involved in POP, there are volunteer opportunities available during the school year or the summer to support council members with tasks or you can shadow council roles. Reach out and let us know you’d like to get more involved.
