The Samaritan House food drive wrapped up collecting almost 600 pounds of food across campus. This effort was sponsored by Taylor and Masa’s 4th-grade classroom. They thank everyone for participating and supporting those in need.
These 9- and 10-year-olds are exploring themes of social justice and change on even deeper levels. Turning inward, this class started using restorative circles to respond to new classroom dynamics in the past weeks. Restorative methods can be used proactively or reactively to build community.
Teacher Masa shares, “We started using restorative circles as a structured way of improving safe communication and social skills. The process conveys core values to Peninsula such as equity, responsibility, and community as well as justice and democracy.”
Thank you 4th grade for inspiring us towards change inside ourselves and in our communities. You are a powerful class of change-makers!
