Lower School (K-4th)
Lower School is Built for Childhood
We recognize that childhood is a time of tremendous growth and development driven by curiosity. In the Lower school, we support children to be curious, explore, play, inquire, make mistakes, create, and develop. We focus on social-emotional learning and being part of a democratic community. We develop intellectual work for children to be creative and critical thinkers, to reason and problem solve, to be thoughtful communicators, and collaborators. In our classrooms, we create a community where students are known and supported, help children to be upstanders for social justice and our world, and prepare children to thrive in the upper school and beyond.
As Lower School students move through their school days, they are engaged in inquiry projects, teacher-directed lessons, and choice-based learning.
