A long time ago, when Childcare became a part of the Peninsula School Program, our educators thought long and hard about the goals and structure for this important children’s time. They wanted it to be a positive, meaningful experience with a solid connection to our school’s core values. Our program aims to strengthen children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through play and connections. As a group of educators, we care deeply about student choice and responsibility in making those choices, as well as voice, freedom, play, independence, and self-advocacy. We celebrate multiple perspectives, democratic participation, and collaboration. That said, we also provide comfortable areas for quiet reading or reflecting when that is needed.

Our program is like a safe neighborhood street; kids of all ages play together, build forts, climb trees, play ball, read, play board games, and negotiate disagreements with each other under the gentle eye of their teachers. Our wonderful yards allow for unlimited nature exploration and imagination to bloom.

We are so excited to welcome you, and for those returning, to welcome you back! Your children’s giggles and voices fill our yards and make us feel grateful for your trust in our teaching staff and in our program.
