Affording Peninsula
Peninsula School is deeply committed to economic diversity in our school community. To support this commitment, the school allocates 13% of tuition dollars and an additional 3% from fundraising for flexible tuition to families who would not otherwise be able to attend. Approximately 25% of our families participate in our Flexible Tuition program.
A number of factors are taken into consideration in the allocation of flexible tuition, including family income and assets, family size and basic living expenses, total tuition and childcare costs, any extraordinary expenses as well as the local cost of living. Flexible tuition decisions are also informed by available school financial resources and the number of qualified applicants. Please note that priority consideration is given to families who submit all materials according to the deadlines.
For further information please speak with Beth Lee, our Director of Finance. We are happy to provide technical assistance upon request.
Flexible Tuition Information
Peninsula School has partnered with a new Flexible Tuition application platform, Clarity. The goal is to make the school’s Flexible Tuition application process as inclusive and as easy as possible for our families.
Clarity offers a user-friendly application process that is also available in Spanish. It is mobile-friendly, so you can complete your application on your phone or tablet and it can take as few as twenty minutes to complete. Furthermore, your Tax Return and W2 documents will be automatically transferred from the IRS when you complete the verification step, so you will no longer need to upload those documents manually. You will however still need to upload your most current paycheck stubs. Included here are application instructions in English and Spanish as well as FAQs.
The deadline for applying (January 16) has passed.
Please reach out to Beth Lee, Director of Finance and Operations, if you have any questions about Clarity or the Tuition Assistance program at Peninsula School.
Flexible Tuition FAQs
Will applying for flexible tuition affect my child’s application for admissions? No. Our admission and flexible tuition processes are separate, and decisions regarding flexible tuition are not considered until after a child has been accepted. Peninsula School does not use flexible tuition requests in assessing a student’s eligibility for admission.
Is my financial information confidential? Yes. Peninsula School does not publicly identify participants in our flexible tuition program. Our Flexible Tuition committee treats applications for and commitments to flexible tuition as strictly confidential.
Do we need to apply each year for Flexible Tuition program? Yes. Because financial circumstances change, families must apply each year for the flexible tuition program. Peninsula strives to provide flexible tuition as long as the family continues to qualify and the student is enrolled.
What if parents/guardians are separated or divorced? Peninsula School considers all relevant family resources when making decisions about flexible tuition.
