A few of the 7th grade basketball stars, that is. You should know that these images were taken mere minutes after the 7th grade coed team came from behind to tie up and then win the game in the last 30 seconds! Yes, these girls do know their way around the court!
Here’s what they have to say about their auction item: “Come spend a fun afternoon of hoops with us—Lili, Gianna, and Nicola. We’re all in Mel’s 7th grade class, and we play on the Peninsula co-ed team (in the boys league) as well as playing club basketball. We love the game and will introduce you to the most basic elements including dribbling, passing, shooting and defending during this afternoon workshop. We’ll meet at a home near school with an adjustable hoop, practice for an hour or so, and then break for a snack including homemade muffins. This workshop is ideal for six kids age 5-8, no experience is necessary and we’re very patient. To be held on a Monday afternoon in May, scheduled around our class camping trip.”
Join Eva Jones for a fabulous day at Renegade Ranch in Half Moon Bay. Renegade Ranch breeds Andalusian horses and is where Eva keeps her beautiful horse, Chulita, seen above with Eva’s son. This day at the ranch for a family includes a one-hour horse-riding lesson with Hermosa (Chulita’s grandmother) for a child or adult (the hour can be split into two half-hour rides if two children want to ride), followed by a tour of the ranch and the chance to learn all about Andalusian horses. If we’re lucky, we may even have the chance to see and hold a baby horse (the baby is due in April). After a busy morning or afternoon at the ranch you can enjoy a $50 gift certificate towards a delicious lunch or dinner at the award winning Sam’s Chowder House.
On Auction night the lucky winner will also get to take home this special bottle of wine featuring Hermosa the horse on the label, plus a wire market basket filled with 50 fresh organic chicken and duck eggs (from a mixture of exotic breeds). For more information see: Renegade Ranch
At the Craft Fair in December, the Matryoshka doll ornaments Suz handcrafted for Busy Fingers sold the moment they went on display. Handcrafted from wool felt and embroidered with incredible detail, each doll is a one-of-a-kind folk art treasure. Here is your chance to have not just one of these heirloom works, but to have one to represent EACH member of your family. For the winner of this Auction item Suz will create a set of customized matryoshka ornaments, taking into account hair and eye colors, as well as talking with you about your interests and preferences. Perhaps you’d like your doll to include your favorite black cat? Maybe your child loves soccer and wants the ball beside them? Regardless of what you choose to include, you will always be glad to have these delightful representations of your family, and to know that your supported Peninsula School by purchasing them. Offer for up to 4 dolls. As they are small, requests for customization need to be simple. Artistic license applies.
And of course, we can’t leave you without posting just a few of the many fantastic photos taken by Casey during the last Trapeze Arts event:
Here are the details. You and your party of up to 8 will literally be flying high with the help of the trained Acrobatic Professionals at Trapeze Arts in Oakland. Participants in this Flying Trapeze adventure will learn real trapeze skills—starting at ground level and working up from there. The goal at the end of the workshop is to complete a mid air connection with the professional ‘catcher’. Because this is such a unique opportunity, you’ll want to have it recorded on film. As the natural lighting conditions permit, the Baker Dunn family will photograph and video tape your event, creating DVD’s for each participant. These images are priceless as they offer proof positive of your daring.
Really folks, you KNOW you’ll be wanting to bid on this one on Auction night!
We must preface the “official” description of this item with a personal observation. Busy Fingers has not only done it again, they have raised the bar beyond all past efforts, which have been fabulous works of art in their own right. We have seen and touched these exquisite little masterpieces and are here to tell you that this collective effort is simply unbelievable. This Red Barn and Farm is truly an heirloom.
Inspired by the classic children’s story The Big Red Barn, by Margaret Wise Brown, this collection includes all of the charming ingredients your child needs to allow their imagination to soar. Lovingly crafted by the many hands of Busy Fingers, this farmyard bounty includes: A copy of the book, a red wooden barn refurbished by master carpenter and woodshop teacher Mikel, a handcrafted farm field with landscaping, a collection of charming farm animals, and (at your option) a real, live chicken! Every element of this delightful collection has been handcrafted, and together they showcase the many textures and colors of natural fibers including organic wool and cotton. They are also a wonderful representation of various forms of hand-crafting as knitting, felting, stitching, woodworking, painting and crochet are all used in their creation. …”and they all lived together in The Big Red Barn!” The Peninsula Farm is a one-of-a-kind work of community art that your children (and grandchildren) are sure to treasure.
